Assisi Diary - Day 23 - Art and Artifacts

Like any place with millions of visitors, Assisi has its share of souvenir shops where one can pick up anything from miniature statues and wooden crosses to postcards, t-shirts, knick-knacks, toys and so on.  Much of it is mass-produced and seems reflective of an entrepreneurial spirit that is perhaps not exactly franciscan in nature.  However, if tourists carry home momentos that occasionally remind them of an inspiring visit, perhaps some good purpose is served.  That's not to say that Assisi is limited in its creativity.  There are astists about, as well as antique dealers, and roaming the streets one sees interesting paintings, ceramics, lacework and more.  Here's a few examples, beginning with a plate.
Next is some fine stationary.
An old marble table top.
A fine print depicting Assisi.
And, of course, an image of Francis.
Ciao.
